USA Water Polo is Heading to the 2012 Olympic Games
As an official sponsor of USA Water Polo, Kaenon is proud to share the news that both the Men’s and Women’s US Water Polo teams are heading to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The USA Water Polo Women’s National Team won Gold at the Pan American Games and earned a berth to the 2012 Olympic Games with an epic, come from behind victory over Canada 27-26. At the end of regulation, the two teams were tied 8-8, sending them into overtime. In dramatic fashion, the game went into a shootout, where Maggie Steffens’ goal on the final penalty shot coupled with a Canada miss secured the victory and brought an end to a shootout that saw each team have 20 attempts.
“I told the girls this is the greatest game I’ve ever been a part of, maybe the most courageous, most mentally tough group of girls during one game that I’ve ever seen,” said Adam Krikorian, head coach of the USA team.
In the same tournament, the USA Men’s National Team punched their ticket to the Olympic Games after beating Canada, as well, 7-3. This win not only secured a spot in the Games, but it also represents Team USA’s fifth straight Pan American Games title.
