Soto Podiums in Mini Monster Half Ironman

Jano Soto finished 3rd in the “Mini Monster Half Ironman Triathlon” at his home in Kona, Hawaii wearing Hard Kore White G12. Jano finished the race with a total time of 4:26 (Swim 30:26, Bike 2:20, Run 1:36), 12 minutes behind the leader.

Within moment of the gun going off, Soto was in a tight group leading the pack. However, early in the swim Thomas J. Vonach and Mario Erath of Austria began pulling away, locking in standings that would hold for the remainder of the race.
In a blog post following the event, Soto reflected:

“It was one of the happiest races I’ve ever done, it just felt so great to be a ‘local.’ I got goosebumps every time someone called my name in Alii Drive, there’s nothing like it! Here I was, racing in Kona as a local…Who would have thought this 2 years ago when I was buying my Cervelo P3 in San Diego.”

Jano moved to Kona a few years back to follow his dream and dedicate his time to training for events to become one of the best triathletes in the world. We’d have to say he’s well on his way to making it happen.
