Iker & Xabi Win Volvo Ocean Race Leg 1
Whether in the Olympic circle or charging through offshore adventures, these two are without a doubt the hottest sailors in the world. Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez, who were just named 2011 Rolex World Sailors of the Year while in the middle of the Atlantic battling in the Volvo Ocean Race, just won the race’s first leg.
Screaming into Cape Town, South Africa in 40 knot winds, the Spanish duo clinched victory on Saturday, November 26. Both sailors wear Kaenon sunglass style, Kore with C12 lenses during the Volvo Ocean Race.
The Volvo Ocean Race has been one of the more premier sailing events in the world and is as equally dangerous as it is prestigious. During the first leg, three boats were forced to retire due to damage to their vessels and must be shipped to Cape Town. Fortunately, all are hopeful of making the start line for the second in-port race on December 10.
